Under the training of his father, John has become a well-respected and successful piano technician and rebuilder. He has been working in his family's rebuilding shop since 1995, joined the Piano Technician's Guild in 1996 and has been running the rebuilding business 2006. John's skill set covers all aspects of the rebuilding process - including installation of new soundboards, bridges, pin blocks, actions, and under lever systems.

The Butler’s are well known for their ability to get the most out of any given piano. They specialize in action regulation, action geometry and action restorations. And John is no exception. He prides himself with being honest and forth right with his customers when it comes to diagnosing a piano. One of his goals is to educate you, the customer, on the condition of your piano upon every visit. John’s aim is to achieve an even touch, even tone and the widest dynamic range from every piano he services.

John is an Associate Member of the Piano Technicians Guild and is working towards becoming a Registered Piano Technician. He has also assisted his father in teaching on both the local and national levels on a variety of different subjects in piano technology. John has also been an instructor at seminars and classes for his colleagues that he hosts in his rebuilding shop. He currently splits his time between tuning and voicing in customer's homes and rebuilding work in the family shop.
